　　　　　　　　　　V-Belt drive is simple, inexpensive, and does not require axially aligned shafts. It protect the machinery from overload and jam, and also damps noise and vibration. They need no lubrication and minimal maintenance. They have high efficiency usually 95%, and are of relatively low cost if the shafts are far apart. Different speeds can be obtained by step or tapered pulleys.

Poly groove pulleys are having 40% higher power rating when compared with conventional v-belts drive system. It has zero slippage due to maximum wedge contact. Higher power rating makes the drive lighter and compact, and offers energy saving upto 6%.

Timing pulleys are used where high accuracy is a key factor. It speeds upto 20,000 rpm, Non slip drive from timing pulley yields the maximum efficiency upto 99%, it is widely used from fractional horse power upto 500 Kw.

　　　　　　　　The flat belt is a simple system of power transmission. It can deliver high power at high speeds (500 hp at 10,000 ft/min), in cases of wide belts and large pulleys. However these drives are bulky and poorly suited to close-centers applications. Normally V-belts are used for short distance applications and for long distance flat belts are utilized.

　　　　Roller chain and sprockets is a very efficient method of power transmission compared to belts, with far less frictional loss. Drive chains are most often made of metal, while belts are often rubber, plastic, or other substances. Drive belts can slip unless they have teeth, and some work gets lost to the friction of the belt against its rollers. Teeth on toothed drive belts generally wear faster than links on chains
